In Rwanda, children are inspired by the life of the Báb

Stories about the Báb and His early followers are inspiring children around Rwanda to plan for activities in honor of the bicentenary of the birth of the Báb. One group prepared cards to invite their families to a celebration. Another group, with nearly 80 children, watched the film Dawn of the Light. Two children traveled 200 kilometers to another community to share with their friends some quotations from the Writings of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh, particularly on the theme of community life.

Celebration of all ages in Kigali, Rwanda

A community in Kigali, Rwanda, gathers to celebrate and honor the life of the Báb. The gathering was attended by children, youth, and adults of all ages. The program began with younger youth telling stories about the life of the Báb and viewing a film titled Light to the World. Participants discussed and reflected on the importance of education, enjoyed dance performances, and socialized joyfully together. A group of adolescents in the community closed the gathering with a prayer for unity.

Speaking with journalists about the Báb’s life and teachings

Along the Rwandan shore of Lake Kivu, 11 journalists interviewed representatives of the local Bahá’í community at a press conference held for the bicentenary. The Bahá’í representatives spoke about the life and mission of the Báb, how communities around the world are seeking to put into practice the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings, and other topics. Journalists came from newspapers, radio, and television in both Rwanda and nearby cities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
