Hand-made chuspa explores spiritual themes through embroidery
An artist in Oruro, Bolivia, in honor of the bicentenary has created a chuspa, a traditional cloth bag, with embroidered symbols exploring spiritual themes. “La chakana,” meaning “the bridge that joins with the high,” is the symbol of the indigenous peoples; eagles and plants represent the natural world; and a colorful, nine-pointed sun with a design inside represents the coming of different Messengers of God and humanity’s need for spiritual teachings.
