A collective art project in New Zealand brought together neighbors in bicentenary celebration. The project, organized by the community’s children’s class, involved creating beauty through block printing, palm frond weaving, coloring, and contributing their hand prints to a group poster.

More than 150 guests gathered in the dignified setting of the Grand Hall and Council Chamber in New Zealand’s Parliament Buildings to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of the Báb. The uplifting program involved remarks from a member of parliament. At the front of the chamber hung a large work of art, “Suka Siti” (Sugar City), made by three artists. One of the artists described the inspiration for the tapa cloth which shows the 19 terraces on Mount Carmel with the Shrine of the Báb located at the center.

Local art exhibition strengthens community solidarity

A community in Auckland, New Zealand, organizes a four-day art exhibition to honor the bicentenary of the birth of the Báb. Infused by prayer and music, the exhibition highlights a collection of individual- and community-made works by children, youth, and adults. Also featured at the exhibition is an ngatu, which is a Tongan art form that is created through the contributions of many people adding to a piece that is greater than themselves. An ngatu featured in the film Dawn of the Light, created for the bicentenary, is on display at the exhibition.

ساکنان جوامع گوناگون در جزیرۀ شمالی کشور نیوزیلند مناجاتی شناخته شده از حضرت عبدالبهاء به زبان تونگایی را با صوت تلاوت کردند. این مناجات چنین است: "هوالله خدایا هدایت نما، حفظ فرما، سراج روشن کن، ستارۀ درخشنده نما. تویی مقتدر و توانا". این جلسۀ دعا بخشی بود از گردهمایی بزرگتری که در آن شرکت کنندگان به منظور آمادگی برای دویستمین سالگرد در بارۀ پیشرفت فرآیند آموزشی پویایی که در جوامع آنان در حال بسط و شکوفایی است تاٴمل و تفکر کردند. در آن جوامع افراد از سنین مختلف مشغول مطالعۀ منظم و اقدامات سیستماتیک برای کمک به ترقی و پیشرفت محله‌هایشان هستند.
